Mini Track Linear Actuators

Move a carriage when a projecting rod does not fit

Mini track linear actuators move an attachment along a fixed track rather than extending a rod beyond the body. This changes the installation envelope and the load path. The key questions are where the tool sits relative to the carriage, what moments it creates and how the track mounts to the machine.

The first design decision

Does a fixed track simplify your travel envelope without exceeding the carriage and mounting constraints?

A useful starting point for

  • Small sliding doors, instrument shutters and compact enclosure mechanisms.
  • Short-travel positioning where the machine cannot accommodate an extending rod.

Define these boundaries

  • Useful carriage travel is distinct from total track length and end mounting space.
  • An integrated track is not automatically a precision guide rated for every tool offset or moment load.

Agree on prototype acceptance before sampling

  1. 01

    Map the complete moving envelope

Include the carriage, tool and cable at every relevant position. Check for interference with track fasteners and end covers.

  2. 02

    Calculate tool reactions

Provide payload position and external process forces. Review moments and guide requirements before selecting based only on axial thrust.

  3. 03

Verify on the production mounting surface

Repeat loaded travel and stopping tests with the intended fasteners and support. Mounting distortion can change friction and motion behavior.

Define the inspection and release package before fixing the sample acceptance criteria.

Engineering FAQ

Does the track length equal the available stroke?

No. The carriage, drive components and end clearances consume part of the body length. Use the configuration drawing to distinguish useful stroke from the full installation envelope.

Can a track carry a cantilevered payload?

Provide the tool mass, offset and process loads for assessment. The resulting moments and carriage rating matter in addition to axial drive force; extra guidance may be required.

Is a track actuator more accurate than a rod actuator?

The package alone does not establish accuracy. Compare actual feedback, transmission behavior, guidance and measurement conditions against the same position tolerance.
